What's a seat?

If you’re reading this it’s probably because you’re interested in helping mothers and children in our community with educational or holistic practices. We’re happy to have you! We have big plans for our Well-Mama Program not only to help our mothers but do build an incubator for health and wellness professionals to grow their business.

One question that comes up is picking the seat. Most of us--ourselves included, have a variety of different services. For instance, Melissa teaches yoga and mindfulness at the group level, business consulting for health and wellness professionals, and government contracts for training stress relief techniques. However, what makes our Well-Mama program advantageous is focusing in on one profession so we can easily promote your services in a clear manner.

In business terms for networking purposes-- a “seat” is when someone fills one professional job description even if they have different services for promotion. For example, in Melissa’s case-- she would choose Small Business Consultant. By picking one-- it makes it really clear to outside people to refer clients versus trying to explain the many services provided.

So in terms of the Well-Mama program-- what does that mean for you?

First, you’ll have to pick one seat or profession and have it cleared by our team. Those classes, services, products, or activities are what we’ll post and promote on our site. Anything outside of that-- you can still do and of course promote on your own site, social media, and marketing materials.

How to pick my seat

  1. Identify a job title

Your seat should speak to one profession and be a clear title that anyone with no knowledge of your business. This should be a job title as opposed to a service

Good Examples:

  • Childbirth Educator
  • Life coach
  • Music Instructor
  • Kids Meditation Instructor
  • Sign Language Instructor
  • Massage Therapist
  • Acupuncturists
  • Fertility Instructor
  • Doula
  • Midwife
  • Essential Oil Consultant

Not Going to Fly Examples

  • Mothers wellness programs
  • Positive programs
  • Overall wellness coach, dreamer, and reiki master
  1. Pick the one you will use the most at Yoga Harbor

Whatever programs you will use the most at Yoga Harbor and makes the most sense to promote to our own network typically will make the most sense. For instance, if you offer Prenatal Massage and childbirth education-- massage will most likely make the most sense if that’s where the most business comes from.

  1. Complete all of your marketing materials for Yoga Harbor

Once approved you will submit your promotional materials to Yoga Harbor and we will proof it make sure it’s not overlapping with a current or potential seat. Revisions may be required if it’s talking about all of your services versus your seated spot.

Why is it structured this way?

For those not used to networking-- this can be so confusing. It can feel limiting. Here’s a few reasons why we have opted to structure the program this way.

It sends a clear message to our clients

As a Well-Mama Partner, we know you have your own thing going and that’s great. While we want to provide additional support for your current marketing plan-- it needs to be really clear for us to tell people what you do. If there’s a 5 or 6 different services, it becomes less clear. We would rather send you 5 really good referrals versus trying to explain everything in an untargeted way that leads to no referrals.

It decreases competition within our community

Wouldn’t it be a little irritating if we promoted someone else with the exact same class type you were also promoting at the studio? Seated professions help set the expectation that the Yoga Harbor Well-Mama Program will help with <<insert one of your services>> and not someone else's. There may be other partners in the program who offer similar services and they can certainly use our space for that-- but they will be responsible for promoting it on their own and not step on your toes.

If you have any questions regarding our seated guidelines-- please feel free to contact us at any time!
