Yoga Alliance Certification Pinellas

Overview of Yoga Certification Program

Our Yoga Teacher Certification program's core is making yoga accessible to different body types and physical conditions from a mindful approach. For many, those postures won’t look like photos in a glossy magazine or Instagram account but the benefits to students will be profound. Students will learn how to improve their wellbeing, decrease stress, and improve overall health. Our participants will learn the benefits of postures and how to adapt them to themselves and their own students.

The training is rigorous but not necessarily physically. We exceed the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance standards. It’s crucial that all of our students have designed and sequenced their own classes, created their own workshops, reflected on their journey, and have basic foundational knowledge of yoga. We have homework, tests, readings, and assignments to help students reflect on their own yoga journey. The work isn't busy work-- it's a chance for students to learn in a safe environment for personal growth and to build confidence as a teacher. The information is interesting. Sometime's it's hard. Other times it's fun. Regardless, everything we teach is a chance for personal growth and development.

Our courses are taught in a small group format. There are never more than 12 students per instructor in our 200 Yoga Alliance Approved Trainings.

Our program is based on the following principles

  • Yoga
  • Mindfulness Techniques and Practice
  • Trauma-informed instruction
  • Professionalism

Course Format

Our program is divided into Modules 1 and 2 for a variety of reasons. In the past, we've had some participants who were interested in the in-depth knowledge for the personal practice and family but not necessarily teaching and the time and monetary commitment were too high at the time. Additionally, we've had current yoga instructors and other professionals who have taking training elsewhere and already teaching yoga but didn't need the entire program. Our program suggestions for each level are listed below.

Full Program: 200+ Hour Yoga Alliance Designation

The full 200+ program combines Modules 1 and 2. This is the best route for those interested in a typical format for the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Designation. Our program exceeds the Yoga Alliance time commitment to ensure students have been able to fully integrate the techniques with themselves first and has the knowledge and experience to teach others. Details for each level are discussed below.

Module 1: Personal Practice and Development: Techniques and Practice

This is for participants who wish to deepen their personal yoga practice but are undecided if they want to teach yoga or would like a more flexible option for completing their training.

Module One includes topics such as yogic philosophy and history, Ayurveda, mindfulness, pranayama, and asana. This is approximately 120 hours and includes in-person instruction and personal study.

Module 2: Adaptive Yoga Instruction

This is for participants who wish to teach yoga and obtain the 200 Hour Alliance Designation requirements. Level 2 includes in-depth asana, teaching methodology, anatomy, business of yoga, and goal setting techniques. This is approximately 120 hours of in-person instruction and personal study. Participants interested in teaching should take Modules 1 and 2. Participants who register for both at the same time will receive a substantial discount. If it fits a students financial and time requirements and they wish to teach as soon as possible, we do recommend taking both programs at the time. It will run like most other certification programs currently available.

Additionally, our Module 2 program is also great for current yoga instructors who want to learn how to adapt their yoga classes to individuals, for teachers who do not feel comfortable sequencing, recreational therapists, group fitness instructors, and other professionals who may teach yoga as a part of their current curriculum. If you are only taking Module 2 with us, please contact us regarding additional information if interested in the Yoga Alliance designation and currently do not have it.
